Inca Trail (2 Days / 1 Night)

Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 -Wiñaywayna – Aguas Calientes
At 6:15 am you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the train station in Ollantaytambo. We will go by train up to Km 104 where we will start our hiking. Then we will visit the archaeological complex of Chacha Bamba located at 2,250 meters (7,282 ft) above sea level. This place used to be the source for many agricultural products which would be taken to Machu Picchu during the Inca Empire. We continue heading to Wiñaywayna, where we shall arrive after a two hour hike. On our way we will have stunning views of the Urubamba River and the opportunity of appreciating different types of semi-tropical climate orchids. After visiting the important archaeological site of Wiñaywayna we will have lunch and continue heading to Machu Picchu, which will be first appreciated at a distance from the Intipunku (Sun Gate). We continue walking to Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in a hostel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu complex, which is located at an altitude of 2,400 meters (7,814 ft) above sea level. You will be able to appreciate the dawn in this magical place as well as to hike up the Huayna Picchu Mountain before the arrival of most tourists at the site. We will also have a guided tour of approximately two hours followed by free time in the afternoon to explore the citadel. After we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and the train back to Ollantaytambo where we will be taking another bus to Cusco.
